Crockpot French Onion Meatloaf with Melted Swiss Cheese
Tender French Onion Meatloaf with Swiss Cheese and Slow-Cooked Flavor
Ingredients:
1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 packet French onion soup mix
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded
½ cup beef broth
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, French onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, garlic powder, thyme, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well combined.
Form the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it into the bottom of the crockpot. Pour beef broth around the meatloaf to keep it moist during cooking.
Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
About 10 minutes before serving, sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese evenly over the top of the meatloaf. Cover and let the cheese melt.
Once the cheese has melted, carefully remove the meatloaf from the crockpot, slice, and serve.
