🍋 Homemade Ginger Syrup (Concentrate)
Ingredients
250 g fresh ginger (about 1 cup, sliced or grated)
2 cups water
1½–2 cups sugar (adjust to taste)
1 lemon (juice only)
Optional: 1 tsp turmeric, a few cloves, or a cinnamon stick
How to Make It
Prep ginger
Wash and thinly slice (no need to peel if clean).
Simmer
Add ginger + water to a pot. Simmer 20–30 minutes until the liquid turns golden and fragrant.
Strain
Strain out the ginger into a clean pot or bowl.
Sweeten
Add sugar to the hot liquid. Stir on low heat until fully dissolved (don’t boil hard).
Finish
Turn off heat, add lemon juice (and optional spices). Let cool.
Bottle
Pour into clean bottles/jars. Keep refrigerated.
How to Drink It
Hot ginger tea: 2–3 tbsp syrup + hot water
Cold ginger drink: 2–3 tbsp syrup + cold water + ice
Ginger lemonade: syrup + lemon + sparkling water
Immunity shot: 1–2 tbsp straight (strong but powerful)
Storage
Fridge: up to 2–3 weeks
Add a little extra lemon juice for longer shelf life
Want a thicker, honey-style version? 🍯
Swap sugar for honey (add after straining when liquid is warm, not boiling). It’ll look closer to what’s in the jar in your picture.
If you want, I can give you:
a no-sugar version,
a weight-loss/immune-boosting version, or
