🥟 Cheesy Beef Puff Pastry Pockets
Ingredients (makes 6–8 pockets)
Filling
450 g (1 lb) ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
2–3 green onions or spring onions, chopped
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
Optional: ½ tsp chili flakes or cumin for extra flavor
Pastry
1 package puff pastry sheets (thawed)
1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (egg wash)
Oil or butter for cooking
Instructions
Cook the filling
Heat a pan with a little oil over medium heat.
Sauté onion until soft (2–3 min).
Add garlic, cook 30 seconds.
Add ground beef, break it up and cook until browned.
Season with salt, pepper, paprika (and optional spices).
Let cool slightly, then mix in cheese + green onions.
Prepare the pastry
Preheat oven to 200°C / 400°F.
Roll out puff pastry and cut into rectangles or squares.
Fill & fold
Spoon filling onto one side of each pastry piece.
Fold over to form a pocket.
Press edges with a fork to seal.
Egg wash
Brush tops with egg + milk for that golden shine ✨
Bake
Place on lined baking tray.
Bake 18–22 minutes, until puffed and deeply golden.
