Ingredients
For the meatloaf
1½ lb (700 g) ground beef
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
½ cup milk
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
For the gravy
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Mix the meatloaf: In a large bowl combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and seasoning.
Shape the loaf: Form mixture into a loaf and place in a baking dish or loaf pan.
Bake for about 50–60 minutes, until fully cooked.
Make the gravy:
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
Slowly whisk in beef broth until smooth.
Add Worcestershire sauce and simmer until thick.
Serve: Slice the meatloaf and pour warm gravy over the top.
