🥩 Better Than Takeout Pepper Steak
A quick stir-fry with tender beef, colorful peppers, and a savory sauce—just like your favorite takeout, but fresher and better at home!
🛒 Ingredients
450 g (1 lb) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 small onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, minced (optional)
🍶 Sauce
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
½ cup beef broth or water
1 tsp cornstarch (to thicken)
½ tsp black pepper
👨‍🍳 Instructions
Marinate the beef
In a bowl, mix sliced beef with 2 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tbsp cornstarch.
Let sit for 10–15 minutes.
Make the sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, broth, cornstarch, and black pepper. Set aside.
Cook the beef
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
Add beef and cook 2–3 minutes until browned.
Remove from the pan and set aside.
Cook vegetables
Add remaining 1 tbsp oil to the pan.
Stir-fry bell peppers and onion for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender.
Add garlic and ginger and cook 30 seconds.
Combine everything
Return beef to the pan.
Pour in the sauce and stir well.
Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the beef.

Serve hot over:
Steamed white rice
Fried rice
Noodles

For extra tender beef, slice it very thin against the grain and freeze the steak for 20 minutes before cutting.
