🥐 Biscuits & Sausage Gravy
🛒 Ingredients
For the Biscuits:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
6 tbsp cold butter (cubed)
3/4 cup cold buttermilk
For the Sausage Gravy:
250–300 g ground sausage (beef or turkey works too)
2 tbsp butter (optional, for extra richness)
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
2–2½ cups milk
Salt & black pepper (to taste)
👩🍳 Instructions
- Make the Biscuits
Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Cut in cold butter until mixture looks crumbly.
Add buttermilk and mix until just combined.
Roll dough gently and cut into biscuits.
Place on baking sheet and bake 12–15 minutes until golden. - Make the Sausage Gravy
In a pan, cook sausage over medium heat until browned.
(Optional) Add butter for extra flavor.
Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir for 1–2 minutes.
Slowly add milk while stirring continuously.
Simmer until thick and creamy.
Season with salt and lots of black pepper (classic style!).
🍽️ To Serve
Split warm biscuits in half
Spoon hot sausage gravy generously over the top
💡 Tips
For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or chili flakes
If gravy gets too thick, just add a little more milk
No buttermilk? Mix regular milk with 1 tsp vinegar or lemon juice
