Creamy Chicken Casserole Recipe
Ingredients (serves 4–6):
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken soup)
1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup cooked rice or pasta (optional)
½ cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers (optional, for topping)
2 tablespoons butter, melted (if using breadcrumbs)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Mix creamy sauce: In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and 1 cup shredded cheese.
Assemble casserole:
If using rice/pasta, spread it in the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
Place the chicken breasts on top.
Pour the creamy mixture evenly over the chicken.
Optional topping: Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top for a crunchy finish.
Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through (internal temp 165°F / 74°C) and the top is golden.
Serve: Let it rest 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy with a side of veggies or a simple salad!
This dish is rich, creamy, and hits that comfort-food spot perfectly. You can also swap in cream of chicken soup or add mushrooms, broccoli, or even a little hot sauce for extra flavor.
