🥘 Old-Fashioned Johnny Marzetti
🧾 Ingredients:
2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
1 lb (450g) ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (400g) tomato sauce
1 can (400g) diced tomatoes (drained)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp oil or butter
👨🍳 Instructions:
Cook pasta
Boil macaroni in salted water until just tender. Drain and set aside.
Cook beef mixture
In a large pan, heat oil/butter.
Add onion and cook until soft.
Add garlic, then ground beef. Cook until browned.
Add sauce
Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, and seasoning.
Simmer for 10 minutes.
Combine
Mix cooked pasta with the beef sauce.
Bake
Pour into a greased baking dish.
Top with cheddar and mozzarella.
Oven time
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
😋 Tips:
Add mushrooms or bell peppers for extra flavor
A little sugar (½ tsp) can balance the tomato acidity
Tastes even better the next day!
