1–2 inches fresh ginger root
1 liter (4 cups) water
Juice of ½ lemon (optional)

Peel and thinly slice or grate the ginger.
Bring the water to a boil.
Add the ginger and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes.

Strain into a bottle or jug.
