🧾 Ingredients
5–6 medium potatoes (sliced into rounds)
1 cup mushrooms (whole or halved)
1 packet brown gravy mix (or homemade gravy)
1½ cups water (or beef broth for more flavor)
2 tbsp butter or oil
2 cloves garlic (minced)
Salt & black pepper (to taste)
Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
👨‍🍳 Instructions
Preheat oven
Set to 180°C (350°F).
Prep potatoes
Slice potatoes into even rounds (not too thick so they cook through).
Make gravy
In a pan, melt butter and sauté garlic and mushrooms for 2–3 minutes.
Add gravy mix + water (or broth), stir until slightly thickened.
Assemble
Lightly grease a baking dish
Layer the potato slices evenly
Pour the mushroom gravy over everything
Bake
Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender and top is slightly caramelized.
Finish
Sprinkle with parsley and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
🔥 Tips
Add cooked ground beef or chicken for a heartier version
A sprinkle of cheese on top in the last 10 minutes makes it even richer
Use beef broth instead of water for deeper flavor
