Slow Cooker Pork & Sauerkraut (Cozy 5-Ingredient Dinner)
This is a classic sweet-savory comfort dish that cooks itself and gets better the longer it simmers.
🧾 Ingredients
1 pork shoulder roast (about 1.5–2 kg)
1 jar sauerkraut (drained slightly, but keep a bit of juice if you like it tangy)
1 large onion, sliced
1 apple, peeled and sliced
3–4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp brown sugar
🍳 Instructions
Prep the slow cooker: Place the pork roast in the bottom of your slow cooker.
Add flavor base: Scatter the sliced onion, apple, and minced garlic over and around the pork.
Add sauerkraut: Pour the sauerkraut evenly over everything.
Sweeten it: Sprinkle brown sugar on top.
Cook:
Low: 7–8 hours
High: 4–5 hours
Cook until the pork is very tender and easily pulls apart.
Serve: Shred or slice the pork and mix it with the sauerkraut juices before serving.
