Green Chile Cheeseburgers 🌶️🍔
Juicy, cheesy, and just the right kick—this is a classic for a reason.
Ingredients (4 burgers)
1½ lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
Salt & black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1 tsp onion powder (optional)
1 cup roasted green chiles (Hatch preferred), chopped
(fresh roasted, canned, or jarred—drained well)
4 slices cheese (pepper jack, cheddar, or American)
4 burger buns
Toppings (optional): lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles
Condiments: mayo, mustard, ketchup (or green chile mayo!)
Instructions
Heat grill or skillet to medium-high.
Form patties: Divide beef into 4 patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
Cook burgers 3–4 minutes per side until almost done.
Add the magic: Spoon green chiles on each patty, top with cheese, cover, and cook 1 more minute until melted.
Toast buns lightly.
Assemble: Burger + cheesy green chiles + your favorite toppings and sauces.
Tips & Variations
Extra heat: Mix a little chopped green chile directly into the beef.
Smoky: Add a pinch of smoked paprika to the patties.
Sauce upgrade: Stir chopped green chiles into mayo with a squeeze of lime.
No grill? Cast-iron skillet works perfectly.
