Ingredients
Meat
4–5 lb beef short ribs (bone-in or boneless)
Salt & black pepper
2 tbsp oil (olive or avocado)
Braising Sauce
1 large onion, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1½ cups beef broth
1 cup BBQ sauce (or use hoisin + ketchup mix)
ÂĽ cup soy sauce
ÂĽ cup brown sugar (or honey)
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp black pepper
Optional: ½ tsp chili flakes or a dash of hot sauce
Instructions
Season & Sear
Pat ribs dry. Season well with salt & pepper.
Heat oil in a large pan. Sear ribs on all sides until deeply browned (3–4 min per side).
Transfer ribs to a foil pan or deep baking dish.
Build the Sauce
In the same pan, sauté onions until soft (5–7 min).
Add garlic, cook 30 seconds.
Stir in broth, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire, vinegar, paprika, pepper, and chili flakes.
Simmer 3–5 minutes.
Braise Low & Slow
Pour sauce over ribs.
Cover tightly with foil.
Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 3 to 3½ hours until fork-tender.
Glaze (Optional but 🔥)
Uncover, spoon sauce over ribs.
Broil 3–5 minutes to caramelize the top.
Rest & Serve
Let rest 10 minutes.
Spoon extra sauce over the top.
