🍔 Cream of Mushroom Smothered Hamburger Patties
Ingredients (Serves 4)
1 lb ground beef
Salt & pepper (to taste)
Garlic powder or onion powder (optional)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk or water (to thin the soup)
Optional add-ins:
Sliced onions
Fresh or canned mushrooms
Worcestershire sauce (just a splash)
Stovetop Method (Fast & Juicy)
Form patties
Season the raw hamburger with salt, pepper, and optional garlic/onion powder. Shape into 4 patties.
Brown the patties
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Brown patties 3–4 minutes per side (they don’t need to be fully cooked yet). Remove excess grease if needed.
Add the soup
Stir the cream of mushroom soup with milk or water. Pour over the patties. Add onions or mushrooms if using.
Simmer
Cover and simmer on low for 12–15 minutes, until patties are cooked through and the gravy thickens.
Taste & adjust
Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce, more pepper, or salt if needed.
Oven Method (Hands-Off)
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Place raw patties in a baking dish
Mix soup + milk/water and pour over patties
Cover with foil
Bake 35–40 minutes until cooked through
Uncover for last 5 minutes if you want thicker gravy
