Old-Fashioned Creamy Rice Pudding
Ingredients
1 cup white rice
4 cups milk (whole milk is best)
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Pinch of salt
Optional: raisins or butter
Instructions
Rinse the rice lightly, then add it to a pot with 2 cups of water. Cook until the water is mostly absorbed and rice is soft.
Add the milk, sugar, and salt to the pot.
Simmer on low heat, stirring often so it doesn’t stick.
Cook for about 25–35 minutes until it becomes thick and creamy.
Stir in vanilla (and raisins if using).
Serve warm or chilled, sprinkled with cinnamon on top.
If you want, tell me a bit more about what it looked or tasted like (sweet, savory, baked, fried, etc.), and I can try to match the exact recipe your grandma used.
