🍖 Caramelized Slow Roast Asian Beef Short Ribs
🛒 Ingredients
1.5–2 kg beef short ribs
4 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tbsp fresh ginger (grated)
120 ml soy sauce
80 ml hoisin sauce
60 ml honey (or brown sugar)
2 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tsp black pepper
1–2 tbsp chili paste or sriracha (optional)
120 ml beef broth or water
2 tbsp brown sugar (for caramelizing)
Optional garnish:
Green onions (chopped)
Sesame seeds
👩🍳 Instructions
- Preheat & Prep
Preheat oven to 160°C (320°F).
Pat ribs dry and place in a deep baking dish. - Make the Sauce
In a bowl, mix:
Soy sauce
Hoisin sauce
Honey
Rice vinegar
Sesame oil
Garlic
Ginger
Chili paste (if using)
Beef broth - Slow Roast
Pour sauce over ribs, making sure they’re well coated.
Cover tightly with foil.
Roast for 2.5 to 3 hours, until meat is very tender. - Caramelize
Remove foil and sprinkle brown sugar over ribs.
Increase oven to 220°C (425°F).
Roast uncovered for 15–20 minutes, basting once or twice, until sticky and caramelized. - Serve
Let rest a few minutes.
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
