Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions π₯©π«π§
A quick, restaurant-style stir-fry with tender beef, colorful peppers, and a savory glossy sauce.
Ingredients
For the beef:
500 g beef steak (sirloin, flank, or rump), thinly sliced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp sesame oil
Β½ tsp black pepper
For the stir-fry:
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
1 tbsp oil
Sauce:
ΒΌ cup (60 ml) soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
Β½ cup (120 ml) beef broth or water
1 tsp cornstarch
Instructions
Marinate the beef
Mix beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and pepper. Rest for 15β20 minutes.
Make the sauce
Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, broth, and cornstarch.
Cook the beef
Heat oil in a hot skillet or wok. Sear beef in batches for 1β2 minutes until browned. Remove.
Cook vegetables
Add onion, peppers, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry 3β4 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.
Combine
Return beef to the pan. Pour in sauce and cook 1β2 minutes until thick and glossy.
Serve hot
Great over steamed rice or noodles.
