Homemade Lemon Powder π
Lemon powder is a simple ingredient made from dried lemon peels. It adds a bright citrus flavor to desserts, tea, sauces, marinades, and baked goods. A small pinch can make a big difference!
Ingredients
4β6 fresh lemons (preferably organic)
Instructions
Wash the lemons well
Scrub them under warm water to remove dirt or wax.
Peel the lemons
Use a knife or vegetable peeler to remove the yellow peel.
Try to avoid the white part (pith) because it tastes bitter.
Dry the peels
You can dry them in several ways:
Air-dry: Place peels on a tray and let them dry for 2β3 days.
Oven: Bake at 90β100Β°C (195β210Β°F) for about 1β2 hours until fully dry.
Dehydrator: Dry at 45β50Β°C (110β120Β°F) for 6β8 hours.
Grind into powder
Once the peels are completely dry and crisp, grind them using:
a spice grinder
blender
mortar and pestle
Store
Keep the lemon powder in an airtight jar in a cool, dry place. It can last 3β6 months.
