Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm water
2 teaspoons instant yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil (or vegetable oil)
Instructions
Activate the yeast
In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
Make the dough
Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the bread
Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or round bread. Place it on a baking tray or in a loaf pan.
Second rise
Cover and let it rise again for 20–30 minutes.
Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
Cool
Let the bread cool slightly before slicing.
