π° Creamy Vanilla Custard Bars
π§Ύ Ingredients
For the base:
3 eggs
150 g sugar
120 ml milk
120 ml oil
200 g flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the cream filling:
500 ml milk
3 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp cornstarch
1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp butter
For topping:
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
π©βπ³ Instructions
- Make the base
Preheat oven to 180Β°C.
Beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix well.
Add flour and baking powder, mix until smooth.
Pour into a lined baking pan.
Bake for 20β25 minutes until golden. Let it cool. - Prepare the custard cream
In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolk.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick.
Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla.
Let it cool slightly (still spreadable). - Assemble
Slice the cake horizontally (or leave as one layer and pour cream on top).
Spread the custard evenly over the base.
Smooth the top. - Chill & finish
Refrigerate for at least 2β3 hours until set.
Dust generously with powdered sugar.
Cut into squares like in the picture.
β Tips
For extra richness, you can add whipped cream on top of the custard.
Best served coldβit gets firmer and creamier.
