🛒 Ingredients
1.5–2 kg beef short ribs
4 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tbsp fresh ginger (grated)
120 ml soy sauce
80 ml hoisin sauce
60 ml honey (or brown sugar)
2 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tsp black pepper
1–2 tbsp chili paste or sriracha (optional)
120 ml beef broth or water
2 tbsp brown sugar (for caramelizing)
Optional garnish:
Green onions (chopped)
Sesame seeds
👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep
    Preheat oven to 160°C (320°F).
    Pat ribs dry and place in a deep baking dish.
  2. Make the Sauce
    In a bowl, mix:
    Soy sauce
    Hoisin sauce
    Honey
    Rice vinegar
    Sesame oil
    Garlic
    Ginger
    Chili paste (if using)
    Beef broth
  3. Slow Roast
    Pour sauce over ribs, making sure they’re well coated.
    Cover tightly with foil.
    Roast for 2.5 to 3 hours, until meat is very tender.
  4. Caramelize
    Remove foil and sprinkle brown sugar over ribs.
    Increase oven to 220°C (425°F).
    Roast uncovered for 15–20 minutes, basting once or twice, until sticky and caramelized.
  5. Serve
    Let rest a few minutes.
    Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

    Add stir-fried vegetables or a fresh cucumber salad

    Even better the next day—the flavors deepen overnight
    You can finish under the broiler for extra char
    If you like it sweeter, add more honey; for spice, add more chili paste
