🥘 Slow Cooker Shredded Beef in Savory Gravy
🛒 Ingredients
1.5–2 kg beef chuck roast
1 large onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
½ cup soy sauce
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp dried thyme
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Sear the Beef
Pat beef dry and season with pepper and paprika.
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
Sear beef 3–4 minutes per side until browned.
2️⃣ Prepare the Sauce
In a bowl, mix:
Beef broth
Soy sauce
Worcestershire sauce
Brown sugar
Thyme
3️⃣ Slow Cook
Place chopped onions and garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Add the seared beef on top.
Pour sauce over everything.
Cover and cook:
LOW for 8–9 hours
or HIGH for 4–5 hours
4️⃣ Shred
Remove beef and shred with two forks.
Return shredded meat to the sauce and stir.
5️⃣ Optional – Thicken
Mix cornstarch with 2 tbsp water.
Stir into slow cooker and cook 15 minutes until thickened.
