🐟 Old-Fashioned Salmon Patties (From a Can)
🛒 Ingredients
1 (14–15 oz) can salmon, drained
1 large egg
½ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
¼ cup finely chopped onion
1–2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional but makes them moist)
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
2–3 tbsp oil for frying
👩🍳 Instructions
Prep the salmon
Drain well. Remove large bones and skin if desired (small soft bones are fine — they mash right in).
Mix
In a bowl, flake the salmon with a fork. Add egg, breadcrumbs, onion, mayo, mustard, and seasonings.
Mix until combined.
Form patties
Shape into 4–6 patties. If mixture feels too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
Fry
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Drain & serve
Place on paper towels. Serve warm.
