1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
Β½ teaspoon baking soda
ΒΌ teaspoon salt
ΒΎ cup milk
1 egg
2 tablespoons melted butter (or oil)
Β½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
Combine: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined (small lumps are okay).
Heat pan: Heat a lightly buttered skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat.
Cook: Pour about ΒΌ cup batter for each pancake. Cook until bubbles appear on top (about 2 minutes).
Flip: Turn and cook another 1β2 minutes until golden.
