Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions
A quick, flavorful stir-fry with tender beef, colorful bell peppers, and sweet onions in a savory sauce.
Ingredients
500 g beef steak (sirloin or flank), thinly sliced
2 bell peppers (green + red), sliced
1 large onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 cup beef broth (or water)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Instructions
- Marinate the Beef
In a bowl, mix:
sliced beef
1 tablespoon soy sauce
cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Let sit for 15–20 minutes. - Make the Sauce
In another bowl, combine:
remaining soy sauce
oyster sauce
brown sugar
beef broth
sesame oil (if using)
Mix well and set aside. - Cook the Beef
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
Add beef and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside. - Stir-Fry Vegetables
Add remaining oil.
Cook onions, peppers, garlic, and ginger for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp. - Combine Everything
Return beef to the pan.
Pour in sauce and stir well.
Cook for 2–3 more minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything.
Serve
Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
