π² Homemade Wonton Soup

For the wonton filling
250 g ground chicken or pork
2 green onions, finely sliced
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
Β½ tsp salt
ΒΌ tsp black pepper
For the wontons
24β30 wonton wrappers (store-bought or homemade)
For the soup
6 cups chicken broth
2 garlic cloves, smashed
1-inch piece ginger, sliced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1β2 cups baby spinach or bok choy
2 green onions, sliced
Optional: mushrooms, shredded carrots, chili oil
Directions
- Make the filling
Mix ground meat, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper until combined. - Fold the wontons
Place about 1 teaspoon filling in the center of each wrapper. Wet the edges with water, fold into a triangle, press out air, and seal. Bring the two corners together and pinch. - Make the broth
In a large pot, combine broth, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Bring to a gentle boil and simmer 10 minutes. - Cook the wontons
Drop wontons into the simmering broth. Cook 4β5 minutes until they float and are cooked through. - Add vegetables
Stir in spinach or bok choy for the last minute. - Serve
Ladle into bowls and top with green onions and a drizzle of chili oil if you like.
