1–1.5 kg beef chuck roast (or stewing beef)
1 packet onion soup mix (or 2–3 sliced onions if homemade)
2 cups beef broth (or water + bouillon cube)

1–2 tbsp flour or cornstarch (to thicken gravy)
Salt & black pepper
2 tbsp butter
🍳 Instructions
Prep the beef
Pat the beef dry and season lightly with salt and pepper (optional but recommended).
Add to slow cooker
Place beef in the slow cooker.
Sprinkle onion soup mix over the top.
Pour in beef broth around the meat.
Cook
Low: 8–10 hours
High: 4–6 hours
The beef should become very tender and fall apart easily.
Make gravy (optional but delicious)
Remove beef and shred it.
Mix 1–2 tbsp cornstarch with a little cold water.
Stir into the liquid in the slow cooker and cook 5–10 minutes until thickened.
Serve
Return beef to the gravy.
Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or bread.
