Ingredients
6 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken soup)
1 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)
2 tbsp butter, melted
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
Extra cheese for topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a glass casserole dish.
Layer the sliced potatoes in the dish. Add onions if using, and season lightly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
In a bowl, whisk together the condensed soup, milk, melted butter, and 1 cup shredded cheese until smooth.
Pour this creamy mixture evenly over the potatoes.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove foil, sprinkle extra cheese on top, and bake another 20–25 minutes until golden, bubbly, and potatoes are tender.
Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
