Amish Sunday Savior Casserole
Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
1 can (10.5 oz / 300 g) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain excess grease.
Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika if using.
In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with the milk until smooth.
Grease a baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom.
Add half of the beef mixture over the potatoes.
Pour some of the soup mixture over the top and sprinkle with cheese.
Repeat the layers with remaining potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and finish with the rest of the cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes.
Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Tip
Serve with a simple green salad or warm bread for a full comforting meal.
