🥟 Homemade Wonton Soup

For the wonton filling:
250 g ground chicken or pork
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
Salt & pepper to taste
For wrapping:
Wonton wrappers (store-bought or homemade)
For the soup broth:
1 liter chicken broth
2 cloves garlic, smashed
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
Optional: a few drops fish sauce (adds depth)
Optional add-ins:
Bok choy or spinach
Sliced mushrooms
Carrots (thinly sliced)
👩‍🍳 Instructions
- Make the filling
Mix ground meat, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper until well combined. - Fold the wontons
Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper
Wet the edges with water
Fold into a triangle, then bring corners together and press to seal
👉 Don’t worry about perfection—rustic shapes still taste amazing. - Prepare the broth
In a pot, bring chicken broth to a simmer.
Add garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and optional fish sauce. Let it simmer for 5–10 minutes. - Cook the wontons
Drop wontons into the simmering broth
Cook for 4–5 minutes (they’ll float when done) - Add vegetables (optional)
Toss in veggies during the last 2–3 minutes of cooking. - Serve
Ladle into bowls and top with:
Extra green onions
Chili oil (if you like heat)
Fresh herbs
