🥟 Homemade Wonton Soup
🛒 Ingredients
For the wonton filling:
250 g ground pork (or chicken/shrimp)
2 tbsp finely chopped green onions
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
½ tsp salt
½ tsp white pepper
For the wonton wrappers:
2 cups flour
1 egg
½ tsp salt
~½ cup water
(Or use store-bought wonton wrappers)
For the soup broth:
6 cups chicken broth
2 cloves garlic, smashed
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
Salt & pepper to taste
Optional add-ins:
Bok choy or spinach
Mushrooms
Green onions
Chili oil (for a little heat 🌶️)
👩🍳 Instructions
- Make the wonton dough (skip if using store-bought)
Mix flour and salt, then add egg and water gradually.
Knead into a smooth dough (about 8–10 minutes).
Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
Roll thin and cut into small squares. - Prepare the filling
In a bowl, mix pork, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, salt, and pepper.
Stir until slightly sticky. - Assemble the wontons
Place a small spoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.
Wet edges with water.
Fold into a triangle, then bring corners together to seal. - Make the soup broth
In a pot, bring chicken broth, garlic, and ginger to a simmer.
Add soy sauce and sesame oil.
Taste and adjust seasoning. - Cook the wontons
Drop wontons into the simmering broth.
Cook for 4–6 minutes until they float and are cooked through. - Finish & serve
Add vegetables if using and cook 1–2 minutes.
Ladle into bowls and top with green onions or chili oil.
🌟 Tips
Don’t overfill the wontons—they’ll burst.
You can freeze uncooked wontons for later.
Shrimp + pork combo makes the flavor even better.
