Soft Skillet Flatbreads (Pita-Style)
These fluffy pan-cooked breads are easy, soft, and perfect for stuffing or dipping.
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp instant yeast
1 cup warm water
1/2 cup warm milk
2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
Instructions
Make the dough
In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
Add warm water, warm milk, and oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead
Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Cover and let rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled.
Shape
Divide dough into 8–10 balls.
Roll each into a small round about 1/4 inch thick.
Cook on skillet
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Cook each bread for 2–3 minutes per side until puffed and golden brown spots appear.
Keep soft
Cover cooked breads with a clean towel while cooking the rest.
