Slow Cooker Rich & Flavorful Beef Roast
Ingredients
3–4 lb beef chuck roast
1 packet onion soup mix
1 cup beef broth
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
Optional: carrots, potatoes, and onions
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear the roast for 2–3 minutes per side until browned.
Place the roast in the slow cooker. Add carrots and potatoes if using.
In a bowl, mix:
beef broth
Worcestershire sauce
onion soup mix
garlic
brown sugar
black pepper
Pour the mixture over the roast.
Cover and cook:
LOW for 8–9 hours, or
HIGH for 5–6 hours
Shred or slice the beef and spoon the rich gravy over the top before serving.
Optional Gravy Upgrade
Remove 1 cup of cooking liquid and whisk with:
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp cold water
Simmer until thickened, then pour back over the roast.
