Soft Skillet Flatbreads (Pita-Style Bread)
These fluffy pan-cooked breads are soft, chewy, and perfect for stuffing or dipping!
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp instant yeast
1 cup warm milk
1/2 cup warm water
2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, salt, and oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Cover and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Divide dough into 8–10 balls. Roll each into a small round flatbread.
Heat a dry skillet or pan over medium heat.
Cook each bread for 2–3 minutes per side until puffed and golden brown spots appear.
Brush with melted butter if desired and keep covered with a towel to stay soft.
