Crispy Seasoned Bacon Hack
The “secret ingredient” in a lot of viral crispy bacon recipes is usually a light dusting of flour — often mixed with black pepper or brown sugar. The flour helps the bacon stay flat, crisp up evenly, and develop an extra crunchy texture.
Ingredients
1 lb thick-cut bacon
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp brown sugar (optional for sweet-savory flavor)
Pinch of paprika or cayenne (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top if you have one.
In a small bowl, mix:
flour
pepper
brown sugar
optional spices
Lay bacon strips on the tray and lightly sprinkle both sides with the mixture.
Bake for 18–25 minutes, depending on thickness, until deep golden and crispy.
Transfer to paper towels for 1–2 minutes before serving.
Why it works
The flour absorbs moisture and helps create a crunchy crust.
It keeps bacon from curling too much.
The sugar caramelizes for extra flavor.
Optional Flavor Variations
Maple + black pepper
Garlic powder + smoked paprika
Cajun seasoning
Honey drizzle after baking
