🎄 Grandma-Style Holiday Butter Cookies
🧈 Ingredients
1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
2/3 cup (130 g) sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups (280 g) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
Optional: sprinkles, colored sugar, or jam for filling
🍪 Instructions
Cream butter + sugar
Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
Add egg + vanilla
Mix in the egg and vanilla until smooth.
Add dry ingredients
Stir in flour and salt gradually until a soft dough forms.
Shape the cookies
For classic party cookies: roll into small balls and flatten slightly
Or use a cookie press (spritz style) for fancy shapes
Or press thumb in center and fill with jam for thumbprint cookies
Bake
Bake at 175°C (350°F) for about 10–12 minutes, until edges are just lightly golden.
Cool + decorate
Add sprinkles before baking or glaze once cooled.
