Ingredients
For the filling
3 medium apples (peeled and thinly sliced)
2–3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp flour or cornstarch
For the crust
1 sheet ready-made puff pastry or pie dough
(or use 2 sheets if making a top crust)
Optional
1 tbsp butter (small pieces)
1 egg (for egg wash)
Powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F).
Prepare apples: Peel and slice the 3 apples thinly.
In a bowl, mix apples with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour.
Line a pie dish (or small baking dish) with pastry.
Add the apple mixture and dot with small pieces of butter.
Cover with another sheet of pastry (optional) or leave open.
Brush top with beaten egg and cut a few small vents.
Bake 30–35 minutes until golden and bubbling.
Cool for 10 minutes, then dust with powdered sugar.
