🧈 Kentucky Butter Cake
🧾 Ingredients
For the cake:
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup butter (softened)
4 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
For the butter glaze:
¾ cup sugar
⅓ cup butter
3 tbsp water
2 tsp vanilla extract
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prepare the cake
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
Grease and flour a Bundt pan. - Mix the batter
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
Add buttermilk, butter, eggs, and vanilla.
Beat until smooth (about 2–3 minutes). - Bake
Pour batter into the pan.
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. - Make the glaze
In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and water.
Heat gently until butter melts (don’t boil).
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. - Soak the cake
While the cake is still warm, poke holes all over it.
Slowly pour the glaze over the cake (still in the pan). - Cool & serve
Let it sit for 20–30 minutes, then invert onto a plate.

The glaze is what makes it special—don’t rush pouring it!
Even better the next day as it soaks in more flavor.
Dust with powdered sugar if you want a nice finish.
