½ tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup butter (softened)
4 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
For the butter glaze:
¾ cup sugar
⅓ cup butter
3 tbsp water
2 tsp vanilla extract
👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare the cake
    Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
  2. Mix the batter
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
Add buttermilk, butter, eggs, and vanilla.
Beat until smooth (about 2–3 minutes).
  3. Bake
    Pour batter into the pan.
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Make the glaze
In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and water.
Heat gently until butter melts (don’t boil).
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  5. Soak the cake
While the cake is still warm, poke holes all over it.
Slowly pour the glaze over the cake (still in the pan).
  6. Cool & serve
Let it sit for 20–30 minutes, then invert onto a plate.
    😋 Tips
The glaze is what makes it special—don’t rush pouring it!
Even better the next day as it soaks in more flavor.
Dust with powdered sugar if you want a nice finish.
