🥟 Homemade Wonton Soup
🧾 Ingredients
For the wontons (optional but best!)
200–250 g ground chicken or pork
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
Salt & pepper to taste
Wonton wrappers
For the soup broth
6 cups chicken broth
2 cloves garlic, smashed
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
½ tsp sugar (optional)
Salt & pepper to taste
Extras (optional but recommended)
Bok choy or spinach
Sliced green onions
Mushrooms
👩🍳 Instructions
- Make the wonton filling
In a bowl, mix:
Ground meat
Garlic
Ginger
Green onions
Soy sauce
Sesame oil
Salt & pepper
Mix until well combined. - Wrap the wontons
Place 1 tsp filling in the center of a wonton wrapper
Wet edges with water
Fold into a triangle, then bring corners together and seal
👉 Don’t worry about perfection—they’ll still taste amazing! - Prepare the broth
In a pot:
Add chicken broth, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil
Bring to a gentle simmer for 5–10 minutes - Cook the wontons
Drop wontons into simmering broth
Cook 4–5 minutes (they float when ready) - Add vegetables (optional)
Add bok choy, spinach, or mushrooms
Cook another 1–2 minutes - Serve
Taste and adjust seasoning
Garnish with green onions
⚡ Quick Version (Store-Bought Wontons)
Skip making wontons and:
Use frozen wontons
Add directly to the broth
Cook according to package (usually 3–5 minutes)
