Fluffy Southern Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons cold butter, cubed
3/4 cup cold buttermilk
1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
Pour in buttermilk and stir gently just until dough comes together.
Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently pat to about 1-inch thick.
Fold the dough over itself 3–4 times for flaky layers.
Cut biscuits with a round cutter or glass.
Place on a baking sheet so sides touch slightly.
Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
Brush tops with melted butter and serve warm.
