Cozy Amish-Style Beef Gravy Potatoes 🥔🍽️
Ingredients
1½ lbs (700 g) ground beef
1 small onion, diced
4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
2 cups beef broth
1 packet brown gravy mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (optional but delicious)
2 tbsp butter
Instructions
Cook the beef
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned.
Drain excess grease.
Stir in garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Make the gravy
In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, gravy mix, and cream of mushroom soup until smooth.
Layer the casserole
Grease a baking dish.
Layer half the sliced potatoes on the bottom.
Add half the beef mixture.
Pour over some gravy mixture.
Repeat layers.
Add butter
Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
Bake
Cover tightly with foil.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 1 hour.
Add cheese (optional)
Remove foil, sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
Bake uncovered another 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
