3-Ingredient Comforting Hearty Dinner
This old-fashioned slow-cooked meal is simple, filling, and incredibly tender — perfect for busy days or cold evenings.
Ingredients
1½–2 lbs (700–900 g) beef stew meat or chuck roast, cut into chunks
1 packet onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Optional
Potatoes, rice, or bread for serving
Instructions
Place the beef in a slow cooker or baking dish.
Sprinkle the onion soup mix evenly over the meat.
Spread the cream of mushroom soup on top.
Cover and cook:
Slow cooker: LOW for 7–8 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours
Oven: Cover tightly with foil and bake at 325°F (165°C) for about 2½–3 hours
Stir before serving. The beef should be fork-tender and coated in a rich gravy.
Tips
Add sliced mushrooms or onions if you want extra flavor.
Serve over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice to soak up the sauce.
A splash of beef broth can thin the gravy if desired.
