Homemade Wonton Soup
For the Wontons
Ingredients
250 g (½ lb) ground pork
150 g (⅓ lb) shrimp, finely chopped
2 green onions, finely sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 egg white
30–40 wonton wrappers
For the Soup Broth
6 cups chicken broth
2 cloves garlic, smashed
1-inch ginger slice
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
2 green onions, sliced
Optional: baby bok choy, mushrooms, or spinach
Instructions

  1. Make the Filling
    In a bowl, combine:
    ground pork
    chopped shrimp
    green onions
    garlic
    ginger
    soy sauce
    sesame oil
    salt and pepper
    egg white
    Mix until well combined.
  2. Fold the Wontons
    Place 1 teaspoon filling in the center of a wonton wrapper.
    Wet edges lightly with water.
    Fold into a triangle and press edges tightly.
    Bring the two corners together and seal.
  3. Make the Broth
    In a pot, bring chicken broth, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes.
    Add vegetables if using.
  4. Cook the Wontons
    Drop wontons into simmering broth and cook 4–5 minutes, until they float and are cooked through.
    Top with green onions before serving.

    Extra shrimp
    Fresh cilantro
