4 slices cooked ham
4 slices turkey or chicken breast
4 slices Swiss cheese
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk

1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
Dijon mustard (optional)

Powdered sugar (light dusting for classic style)
Raspberry or strawberry jam

Instructions
Assemble the sandwiches
Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or Dijon mustard on the bread if using.
Layer ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese between 2 slices of bread. Repeat for all sandwiches.
Prepare the egg mixture
In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Dip the sandwiches
Carefully dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides lightly like French toast.
Cook
Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
